چکیده
Robust finite element models are utilised for their ability to predict simple complex mechanical behaviour under certain conditions at a very low cost compared experimental studies, as this reduces the need physical prototypes while allowing optimisation of components. In paper, various parameters in techniques were reviewed simulate crushing glass/epoxy tubes with different material models, mesh sizes, failure trigger mechanisms, formulation, contact definitions, single and numbers shells delamination modelling. Six modelling approaches, namely, single-layer approach multi-layer approach, employed 2, 3, 4, 6, 12 shells. plies used fabricate 3 mm wall thickness GFRP specimen, numerical results data. This was achieved by carefully calibrating values defining above energy absorption response model against initial peak load (stiffness) mean force. each case, other, including computational costs. The decision made from an engineering point view, which means compromising accuracy efficiency. aim is develop FEM that can capability higher level accuracy, around 5% error, than studies.

Predicting the Dynamic Crushing Response of a Composite Honeycomb Energy Absorber Using Solid-Element-Based Models in LS-DYNA
This paper describes an analytical study that was performed as part of the development of an externally deployable energy absorber (DEA) concept. The concept consists of a composite honeycomb structure that can be stowed until needed to provide energy attenuation during a crash event, much like an external airbag system. One goal of the DEA development project was to generate a robust and relia...
متن کاملModeling and Prediction of FRP Composite Cylinder tubes Crashworthiness Characteristics
In this paper, numerical simulation of FRP composite cylinder tubes progressive crushing processes is conducted using LS-Dyna. Details on the numerical modeling strategy are given and discussed. It is found that triggers introduced in the numerical simulation can effectively model the bevel trigger at the end of the tubular specimens. It is also found that two-layer finite element model based o...
